Maureen Ryan, President

Maureen is a service-oriented business and education professional with over twelve years combined experience in grant development, writing and administration working with public and private schools, non-profit agencies, community- and faith-based groups and for-profit companies. She has successfully written grant proposals to federal, state and city/county government and corporate and private foundations for projects and initiatives related to work in the fields of K-12 and post-secondary education, workforce development, manufacturing, technology, engineering, biotechnology, energy, human services, social services, theatre arts, community development, science and healthcare.
Ms. Ryan is a recognized professional for her original approach to conceptualizing and developing unique and innovative grant proposals that focus on partnerships and achievable project outcomes. Ms. Ryan earned her bachelor’s degree in Humanities from the University of Pittsburgh and her Masters in Business Administration from Point Park University. Ms. Ryan currently holds memberships with the American Grantwriter’s Association, the Association of Fundraising Professionals –Western PA Chapter, and The Foundation Center, Washington, D.C. (Platinum). Ms. Ryan also supports her local school district by serving as a member of the Woodland Hills Academic Foundation and mentoring with the Career Literacy for the Advancement of All Youth (CLAAY) program.

Write Connections, LLC has established an approach to grant writing that concentrates on five key elements:

Understand what makes your organization special or unique – Review your organization’s history and background to get a clear understanding of your mission, vision, current programs and services offered, population(s) served, organizational structure, and funding priorities |

Establish an action plan – Create a feasible work plan that accommodates your organization’s staff time, assembly of support documentation, and the deadlines established by funding agencies. |

Identify appropriate funders – Review the purpose, planned outcomes, and evaluation methods of the proposed program or project and align to funders that would be encouraged to want to invest in your solution. |

Build project research- What makes your proposed program/project significant? Identify current and relevant research that speaks to societal and industry-specific trends that relate to your organization’s planned program/project, supports innovative approaches, and aligns with your organization’s mission. |

Develop compelling proposals – approach each grant proposal from a funder-specific perspective that conveys your concept clearly to each funder in a succinct, articulate and persuasive manner. |
